These narratives - about the rise of the Internet; tech’s disruptive shift to “3rd Platform” technologies (like cloud and AI); the advancing digitization of the global economy; digital platforms and ecosystems emerging as the competitive front line in every industry; and the transformation of every enterprise into a “digital innovation factory” – were consistently ahead of the market’s conventional wisdom and continue to power IDC’s market forecasts and shape clients’ digital strategies.

Mr. Gens retired from IDC in 2020, after a 40-year career in the tech research and advisory services industry. He spent over 30 years at IDC in a variety of additional senior roles, including leading IDC's end-user advisory services and launching and leading IDC's global Internet research.
